Christmas Fair 2011
This year
our Christmas Fair in Wells Town Hall was held on November 26th.
Weatherwise conditions were just
right. It was dry but not sunny and not too cold and there were lots of
people in Wells looking for Christmas bargains.
As always sales of Christmas
Cards, Diaries and Calendars were brisk.
Then every one wanted coffee and
cakes so our team of helpers in the refreshment area were kept busy from
about 10.00 am onwards. We had a good selection of home made cakes on
offer along with home made soup and light lunches. The bacon butties
didn’t sit around for long either.
The takings to date are £4000
which we think is pretty amazing given the current financial situation.
So our homeless cats, and there are plenty of them, will be kept warm
and well fed this winter.
We would like to send heartfelt
thanks to every one who worked so hard to make it such a successful day.
You are all heroes but a special mention goes to the volunteers who
helped us to pack up and load our cars at the end of a busy, tiring day.
You are a godsend.
Thank you also to all who came
along to spend money and also those who produced photos of cats we have
homed. It is always good to hear how the ex-CP cats are getting along. I
was delighted to hear about Watney who I homed as a tabby kitten NINE
YEARS ago. He is now a very big tabby male. He was always a kitten who
let his sister take the lead and check out new situations and apparently
nothing has changed.
We look forward to seeing you
all again at our Spring Fair in April. Details will be on our web site
www.stray-cat.co.uk after Christmas.
